This wheel, can be switched from ratchet scrolling, for more precise control, to smooth free scrolling, perfect for scrolling left to right through a Final Cut Pro X timeline. Whereas most mice have a single scroll wheel, for scrolling up and down, the MX Master 2S’s second scroll wheel adds horizontal scrolling ability. Logitech solves this with a second scroll wheel on the left, close to where your thumb would normally sit. Something many video editors miss when switching from Apple’s mouse to a third party mouse is the ability to scroll from left to right. The mouse is very comfortable to hold, being ergonomically moulded to perfectly fit the average human hand, with the buttons perfectly placed for maximum ease of use. It’s also available in blue (“midnight teal”) and in white (“light grey”).

The MX Master 2S is available in several colours, but the version reviewed here has a black rubberised surface with gunmetal grey trim (“graphite”). When it comes to productivity as well, many people still prefer physical buttons and the tactile feedback they provide. It’s entirely touch-based, with no physical buttons, and it’s unusable for gaming. While, at least aesthetically, Apple’s Magic Mouse is a beautiful piece of technology, it’s not without its faults.
